Sophie Weiss is a dynamic and versatile Melbourne based actor and voice-over artist. Her love of storytelling and her belief in the power and joy of theatre has seen her playing varied roles across many genres.
She is currently in the Australian cast of School Of Rock as Rosalie Mullins cover and as an ensemble member.
Most recently she played the role of Aunt Em and joined the ensemble in the national tour of The Wizard Of Oz with GFO where she also covered both the Wicked Witch and Glinda.
Prior to that she played the role of Beth in Merrily We Roll Along which played at The Lawler with Watch This. She also played Georgie in The Full Monty at The National Theatre with StageArt.
Sophie performed in the 2015-16 Australian tour of The Sound Of Music understudying the role of Barroness Shraeder and Sister Margaretta as well as joining the ensemble.
Sophie has also performed in James Anthony Productions' Dirty Rotten Scoundrels where she understudied the role of Christine Colgate and enjoyed her cameo as the Usherette. Sophie toured nationally with HIT Productions' Motherhood the Musical playing the role of Amy.
Sophie has appeared on the small screen in Winners and Losers, Neighbours, Thank God You're Here and many commercials.
Sophie has also performed in many cabarets, the most recent being A Super Brady Cabaret at Chapel Off Chapel with Stage Art in which she played the roll of Jan Brady to critical acclaim. Her one woman show Cry Baby written by Melanie Velissaris was performed at The Butterfly Club.
Sophie graduated with a Bachelor of Performing Arts at Monash University before beginning her career in the performing arts.
Sophie is a talented pianist, gaining her A.MUS.A at just 16 years of age. Sophie has a passion for musical direction and vocal coaching.
